The White Swan was reopened under new ownership in November 2024.

It has been brought back to life with a focus on relaxed hospitality, seasonal cooking, and a deep respect for the local community.
Our menus are led by Michelin-trained chef Kieran Duffy and served in a warm, welcoming space that has become a favourite for both locals and visitors. Whether you’re stopping in for a pint, a coffee, or something special from the kitchen, we look forward to welcoming you.

The White Swan has stood at the heart of Ampleforth village for generations — a landmark that’s as much a part of the local fabric as the surrounding hills and hedgerows.
Though exact records vary, the pub has served locals, walkers, and visitors for well over a century. It provided food, rest and ale to those travelling through the North Yorkshire countryside. Over the years, it became a true village hub — a place for market-day lunches, wedding toasts, Sunday roasts and stories shared across the bar.
In more recent times, the pub sadly closed its doors. But in late 2024, it was brought back to life by new business owners Jamie Buckley and Kieran Duffy, both passionate about creating a space that honours the pub’s past while offering something fresh and exciting for today.
With a focus on seasonal food, great drinks, and relaxed hospitality, The White Swan enters a new chapter — proudly rooted in its history, and open to all.

Led by Michelin-trained chef Kieran Duffy, the kitchen takes inspiration from classic British flavours, reimagined with care, creativity, and local produce at the heart.
